Gawne Aviation was established in 1977 and over the years has become one of the most respected flight training schools in Victoria.

Former students and employees of the school are employed throughout the aviation industry. Employers include Australia's major airline Qantas as well as the now defunct Ansett. Regional carriers such as Kendall's, Hazelton, Southern Airlines and Eastern Australia airlines have also employed Gawne Aviation graduates. Some have also worked for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. More recently two former staff instructors have found employment with international carrier Cathay Pacific Airlines. Additionally, the school was the only fixed-wing flying school to win the coveted Civil Aviation Authority inaugural "Top 80 Award" in 1990.

The company operates a fleet comprising single and twin engine Piper and Cessna aircraft for flying training and charter work.

Gawne Aviation aims to advance the quality of education and training for those piloting aircraft. This includes the safe and efficient use of such aircraft and the use of associated airspace and facilities and the training and retraining of persons for professional licenses and ratings.

Our instructors are highly experienced professional pilots who understand the practical problems facing pilots. This enables them to establish rapport and credibility with students, thus providing the necessary foundation for attitude change - which is the key to pilot improvement.
